Conversations at CAAM - Journeys, issues & insights
The History Council has initiated a series of Q&A conversations with distinguished members of our community who have compelling stories to tell. Guest speakers have included Judge Consuelo B. Marshall, Chief Judge of the United States District Court, Central District of California, the first woman to hold this post and the first and only African American woman west of the Mississippi River to be Chief Judge of a District Court and Reverend James M. Lawson, Jr. Rev. Lawson, is a world reknowned spiritual leader and peace advocate who worked in the Civil Rights Movement at the request of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and served as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference for fourteen years.

Join us as retired Superior Court Judge William C. Beverly, Jr. interviews Judge Terry J. Hatter, Jr., a pioneer jurist on the Federal bench and the first African American to serve as Chief Justice of the Central District of California, the largest federal court in the nation. Judge Hatter's legal career includes service as a public defender in Chicago and as a special assistant to Mayor Tom Bradley.
