This exhibition showcases six African American artists and one artists' collective whose works explore how the actions and ideologies of the civil rights movement continue to be relevant today. Exhibiting artists are: Deborah Grant, Leslie Hewitt, Otabenga Jones and Associates, Adam Pendleton, Jefferson Pinder, Nadine Robinson and Hank Willis Thomas. Originally organized by the High Museum in Atlanta, After 1968 is the companion exhibition to Road to Freedom: Photographs of the Civil Rights Movement which will be present concurrently at the Skirball Cultural Center.

The exhibition features fourteen multi-media works by fifteen artists who present visions of what a sustainable and civil futuremust address for a healthy tomorrow. Exhibiting artists are: Kim Abeles, Jane Castillo, Abdelali Dahrouch, Joyce Dallal, Charles Dickson, Graham Goddard, John Halaka, Nobue Betty Kano, Kwahuumba and Seneferu, Sonia BasSheva-Manjon, Yong Soon Min, Dominique Moody, John Outterbridge and Ingrid Von Sydow. An Idea Called Tomorrow will be on view both at CAAM (1) and the Skirball Cultural Center (2).
